Back in Amsterdam

My pre-paid airport transportation didn’t pick me up this morning, so I took Uber to the airport. I’ll deal with the credit card company when I get home to get a refund. What a pain in my butt!!

The 6-hour flight to Amsterdam was uneventful. The extra 6″ of leg room in the premium seat was well worth the $40 I paid to upgrade. It also helped that the middle seat was empty, so it felt like I had tons of space.

I’m settled into my Airbnb flat just outside of the city center. The host, Frank, just left. He was very helpful getting me oriented to the flat and the area.

The girls are on the plane and just about to take off for Newark. They’ll have 4 hours on the ground before their non-stop flight to Amsterdam. I’ll meet them at Schiphol, and they’ll be ready to start their first ever European adventure!

Drew (13 y/o) and Nora (8 y/o) ready to take off from St. Louis.

  1. So exciting that you’ll have an adventure with the girls. The travel sounds like a nightmare to me but I know that you are well traveled and can deal with all the annoyances! Have a fabulous time and keep the photos coming.

    1. This was a lot of flying, even for me. In three weeks, I was on 6 flights for a total of 41 hours of flying time. I’m looking forward to taking trains while we’re in Europe. I only have one flight left, London to Phoenix on 6/15. I should be ready to come home by then.

  2. Not sure who is more excited, you or the girls! It’s going to be awesome and I can’t wait to travel along (albeit vicariously) with all of you! Love and hugs to all!

    1. I think you’re right. I can’t wait to show them all the amazing things Europe has to offer and help them discover other ways of life.

  3. Not sure who is more excited, you or the girls!? Looking forward to traveling along with you, albeit vicariously! Have fun!

  4. I’m so excited for you & the B’s to travel together. I know they are very excited. How fun for you to see all of it through their eyes. Have a blast!

    1. Other than taking Mary to Disney World when she was 10, I’ve never traveled with kids before. And, certainly never to Europe. It is so exciting to help them discover new things.
