This will be quick as there’s not much to say other than I could really learn to love South Africa. It’s a beautiful country and the people are very friendly. The best part, though, is how inexpensive it is. Unlike Botswana, which is expensive due to using the USD as their currency, the exchange rate here is ridiculous. One Rand equals just over a nickel. So basically, take the price and divide by twenty.
I had delicious penne chicken ($6.50) and a bottle of wine ($10.00). I only had one glass of the wine. The bottle is in my fridge, and I’ll take it down again tomorrow. Even with an absurdly low tip ($3.75) my entire meal cost $20.25. At home just the wine would have cost more than that and I’ll drink this bottle for the next 2 nights.
My room is lovely and overlooks the golf course.
I have a nice patio which I may use tomorrow before my 1230 tee time. They also have a fitness center which I should use. I have all morning with nothing to do so there are no excuses. Yep, that’s what I’m going to do before breakfast. I’m really going to do it…..maybe.
Good night everyone.
Hi Lynn. Not surprised by the pics of all the animals but am surprised that there is so much Italian food! Now, I would have to say that the ravioli stuffed with blue cheese is a no-no in Italian food, but did look good. Thanks, I know you are being “forced” by me to provide the food shots! Have fun!
this is actually my first pasta dinner and I only had pizza once. Since I’ve been gone over 2 weeks, that’s pretty amazing. I admit you were the driver behind the food pics but I get a lot of comments about them. Thanks for your patience with the rather boring food photos but in less than a week I’ll be in Europe so there should be more interesting ones to come.
No, they haven’t been boring…………..keep up the good work with all your photos and descriptions. Enjoying it all!
Thanks so much. Only 4 more days and I’ll be with my girls in Amsterdam. Can’t wait to see them.
Sorry to have been MIA the past few days! We had the movers on Friday and have been in the new place since then! While far from “finished” (no pictures hung; boxes still to unpack; etc etc), it is fully functional! Ben is loving the new pool (I’ll try to WhatsApp you the picture of him hanging out at the swim up bar! :-)) Next up is clearing out the rest of the stuff from the old place. Hospice of the Valley can’t wait to get the family room and great room furniture, my old desk, and some other stuff! Rest is going to the Viet Nam Vets!
Looks like it’s been an incredible few days! Between the views, the animals and the food (and the exchange rate!) looks absolutely delightful! Enjoy Qatar! Looking forward to your updates with Christina, Drew and Nora in Europe (and some of my favorite places!)! It’s going to be absolutely amazing! They are so very excited!
Enjoy!
Just the thought of going through another move gives me the shivers. Good luck with all the finishing touches.
It was a chaplain from the Hospice of the Valley that spoke at the Ceremony of Remembrance the ALS Association held in March. He was wonderful.
South Africa was incredible. The people were amazing, and the safari was perfect. I especially enjoyed watching the animals interact normally. My favorite was the leopard stealing the food. It was fascinating to watch.
