A Couple of Relaxing Days

It’s Saturday morning and another beautiful day in paradise. Peter is in the pool doing his laps and I’m hanging out in a lounge chair listening to the waves crash on the beach. Yesterday we did absolutely nothing except sit by/in the pool. We even had lunch by the pool. It was wonderful. We plan to do the same this morning but then head out of the resort this afternoon. We’re not going to do anything special, just walk down a few blocks to check out the neighborhood.

Yesterday there were four weddings at the resort. Here’s a short clip of the one that took place in the gazebo near the pools. It was taken from the balcony of our room so it’s everyone is a bit small but it was fun to watch it all unfold.

The second wedding was on the Dreams side of the resort and looked very festive with balloons decorating the site. You can it if you look in the top right corner of the video.

The third one was a same sex couple who had quite the party. Not only was there a sit down dinner but music and dancing as well. Then at about 10:30 we heard fireworks and watched from our balcony.

I don’t know where the 4th wedding was held, maybe someplace inside as we didn’t see anything else on the patios.

Since we didn’t do much yesterday to report on, here’s a little info about the resort. There are actually two resorts here, Secrets and Dreams. We’re on the Secrets side which is adults only (yeah!) while the Dreams side allows children. Between the two resorts there are about 10 restaurants/cafes and too many bars to count. We’ve gone to the Dreams side a few times for dinner and on Thursday night for the Mexican dinner/show. But for the most part we’ve hung out on our side. Here are several pics to show you the resort.

Our room is the one circled.
One of the 3 pools and 2 hot tubs on our side. There are 4 more pools on the Dreams side. There’s a grill in the background on the left and a bar on the right behind the umbrellas.
Hot tub and another pool with in water lounge chairs.
The third pool has a swim up bar. This one is very popular.
If I want to pay $200 for a massage (I don’t) I can get one on the beach.
Beach volley ball is in the afternoon led by a staff member. There is also water aerobics several days a week. I went yesterday and, even though it wasn’t too rigorous, it was fun.
There are several palapas in the sand but we prefer the pool. The sand isn’t so much sand as it is tiny rocks and not very comfortable on bare feet. Besides, I hate being dirty.

As I said there are about 10 restaurants/cafes between the two resorts. We can pick from Italian, French, Mexican, Asian, Seafood as well as 2 buffet style restaurants and a couple of small cafes. Since this is all-inclusive we can go to whichever one we want. The good news is that the people on the Dreams side can’t come to the restaurants on the Secrets side….yeah! No screaming, running kids at meal times.

I’m working my way through the drink menu and found a couple of new favorites yesterday…a mini beer and a Blue Hawaii. The mini-beer is a combination of Licor 43 (a Spanish Vanilla Liqueur) and heavy cream. It is sweet, which I love, and absolutely delicious. The Blue Hawaii is rum, vodka, blue curacao, pineapple juice and sweet and sour. I’ve never had one before and it was quite yummy. Yesterday I saw someone with a Miami Vice that looked pretty good. I may have to try that today. Neither Peter nor I drink much so even just the 2 drinks/day we’ve been having is a lot for us. We’re going to need to detoxify our livers when we get home.

There has been a cruise ship here since we arrived and it’s just sitting out there. We got fairly close Thursday on our day trip and saw that it was the Westerdam from Holland America. I looked it up and it’s due back in LA on the 14th but it hasn’t budged since we’ve been here. We wonder if they had a Covid outbreak and are quarantining off shore. Can’t find anything about it online but hopefully everyone is OK.

Well, not much else to report. Peter just finished his laps so we’ll head in for breakfast. Have a great day everyone. Love from Mexico.
